1978 Game worn Detroit Lions Kelly clear shell helmet. The helmet is all original and complete with the interior padding, Dungard facemask, original clips and hardware, and original chinstrap. The original Lions logos and striping are adhered to the helmet well with no lifting. The logos and striping is on the outside of the shell - in which the Lions often did with their clear shell helmets. There is a player number on the rear of the helmet - #78 which was the number worn by All-Pro Doug English. The last name "English" is also written on the rear leather padding. The helmet however can be attributed to Rick Kane as matched to Kane's Topps football card. The helmet has moderate wear on the exterior as well as the interior. Helmet size is a massive 7 5/8 - the same size that English wore. It is possible that the helmet was issued to English after Kane wore it. A great helmet that tells a story of the early days of the Silverdome.
