This helmet is part of a collection that we purchased a few years back from the family of a former Marietta employee. The employee would occasionally bring helmets home that were going to be discarded, for his two sons. His sons soon had a very nice collection of NFL helmets with just about every team offered in the early to mid 1970's. This helmet is a team issued, possibly worn original Marietta Kineomatic 21 Leather Padded Tampa helmet from 1975. Yes the date stamp on the manufacturing sticker on the inside of the helmet is 1975 - one year prior to the Bucs joining the NFL. The helmet has the Bucs stripes on the inside of the shell while the original logos are on the outside of the shell. The shell is complete with all of the rare Marietta leather padding. The original jawpads are no longer with the helmet. The helmet is also missing the original facemask. You can see the remnants of the original clips still on the helmet - in gray. Yes, this helmet cane out from the Marietta factory prior to the Bucs deciding to go with their light orange facemasks. This helmet originally has a gray mask installed - much like the Seattle Seahawks chose to use for their first season in 1976. The helmet is in excellent original condition with no modifications. There are no player identifiers on or inside of the helmet. An original Marietta factory decal is inside of the helmet with the 1975 datecode. A great rare vintage Marietta helmet that is very hard to find. The helmet was sourced to us as you see it in the photos from a former employee of Marietta. This quite possibly is one of the very first helmets produced for the Buccaneers and certainly one of the only ones that have survived. You'll never see another one.
