Arizona Cardinals Game Worn helmet from the 1994 season. The helmet was worn by Rookie sensation Chuck Levy. The Riddell VSR4 model helmet is all original in a size large. The helmet was sent to their reconditioner, rejected and not returned to the team. Levy, the cardinals 2nd Round selection in 1994, had a decent rookie season, was suspended for the 1995 season, and never played for the Cardinals again - finishing his career with the 49ers. The helmet was signed by QB Jake Plummer and released.
The helmet is original as sourced, unaltered since released, and matches photos of Levy during his rookie season. It has the original Cardinals decals on the sides, properly positioned on the helmet - matching the positioning of Levy's helmet, and adhered to the helmet very well with no lifting. The helmet has Levy's ROPO-DW model, thin wire facemask, secured to the helmet with conventional Schutt clips at the top mounts and Riddell 2-hole clips at the side mounts of the mask. The datecode of the facemask is 1993. Interesting to not the high chinstrap snaps on the helmet as Levy preferred the high mount from his playing days with the Arizona Wildcats. In 1994, very few NFL players had Riddell helmets which were drilled for the high mount chinstraps.
The helmet has moderate wear to the outside and inside, as expected by an NFL runningback. The helmet has the athletic tape that the Cardinals equipment staff has used for years, as the player identifier but also with the year of the helmet and the facemask model. The helmet has Levy's #4 on the rear of the helmet. It does not get any better!
