Game Worn Michigan Wolverines Riddell VSR1 model helmet.  The large sized helmet was originally manufactured in 1992 and painted and reconditioned by Riddell’s All American  - who painted the team’s Riddell game helmets. The helmet was reconditioned several times over the years with the last reconditioning for the 1999 season as indicated by the sticker on the interior of the helmet.   It is unclear if it was worn in 1999 or if the last reconditioning was to repaint it to release the helmet from service. 

The helmet is complete including the chinstrap as most released game helmets from this period did not include any chinstrap.  It is original with painted wings and stripes. The facemask is a Schutt OPO model, from 1995, secured to the helmet using the original clips and hardware.  Conventional clips dated 1996 secure the mask at the top of the helmet while navy blue shockblocker clips secure the mask at the side mounts.  Most Michigan released helmets utilize four (4) clips  changing out the shockblockers while this helmet still has them. 

The helmet is original as sourced to us.  The striping and wings are original, painted on the helmet by All American and remain in great condition with light exterior wear.  The helmet has a #15 player identifier on the rear of the helmet with many written notations on the inside near the earholes from the reconditioner.  The helmet also has an All-American size sticker on the exterior left side.  Great rare Riddell Michigan helmet.
