Dallas Cowboys MaxPro helmet from the 1991 season as indicated by the datecode on the interior and the NFL Shield on the rear of the helmet. The helmet is an rare MaxPro 2001 model. This model of helmet was offered and use in the NFL from the late 1980s into the early 1990s. As you may know, the Cowboys wore MaxPro helmets throughout the 1970s through the mid 1980s. We are uncertain if this helmet was used in games for the Cowboys, however, there is a lot to like about this helmet and the possibility that it was indeed game worn by the Cowboys.
The helmet is original and complete with the fluid cell padding, Schutt NOPO facemask - dated 1990, secured to the helmet with the original facemask hardware. The striping and logos are original to the helmet, properly positioned and adhered very well with no lifting. The helmet has an original Cowboys warning label on the rear along with a proper NFL shield on the opposite rear side. Interesting to note the adhesive residue over the MaxPro name on the front nose bumper - where the white vinyl that covered the MaxPro name has either been removed or has fallen off in the more than 35 years since the helmet has been retired from potential use. The helmet remains in excellent condition with light wear to the exterior and interior. No player identifiers are marked on the helmet interior and if an external dymo-tape name existed, it has been removed as they all have on Cowboys helmets prior to their release to the public.
