Game Worn Mitchell Benson Indianapolis Colts helmet. The Riddell AF2 helmet in an XL size has extreme wear from the two years that Benson wore it as during his limited NFL career. The helmet was manufactured in 1986, and was most likely issued to a different player prior to Benson being drafted in the 3rd round of 1989 out of TCU. The facemask of the helmet is a heavily used Schutt NJOP model with bare metal in the corners along with scuffs and scrapes. The mask is secured with the original clips and hardware. The helmet is original and complete with the vinyl Pac3 style jawpads and the original chinstrap.
The helmet is all original and has not been altered or modified. It exhibits heavy wear on the exterior. The interior is complete along with the optional inflatable front bladder under the front pad. The helmet logo decals and center stripe are proper and original to the helmet. They are positioned properly and adhered to the exterior of the helmet well, with no lifting to the logos and some curling to the edges of the center stripe. There is excess adhesive boardering the logos and the striping - with no attempt to remove it or clean it up in any way. The rear of the helmet has the original team warning label. There is a #95 player identifier written on the inside of the helmet above each earhole. A nice helmet, getting tougher to find, in a rare very desirable model, with a rare original mask and hardware, ready to display and become the centerpiece for your collection.
