Game Worn New Orleans helmet worn by #86. The helmet has an original manufacturing date of 1988 and has been reconditioned in 1990 and 1991. We say "worn by #86" because we have no clue who #86 may have been at the period that this helmet was used by the team. Each year it seemed that the Saints had a different #86 on their roster. The helmet is a very large size 7 7/8 - typically worn by a larger person - yet after 1988, the Saints used #86 for smaller Wider Receivers - whom, unless they had a abnormally large head, did not wear a 7 7/8 sized helmet.
The helmet is original, unaltered in any way, and complete with the exception of the chinstrap. The helmet has its original Schutt OPO-SW model facemask from 1991, secured to the helmet with the original clips and hardware. Conventional clips secure the top mounts while double clips secure the mask at the sides as worn by the Saints during this period.
The helmet exhibits light wear on the exterior and the interior, consistent with several seasons of poor wide receiver play from rookies that did not get a lot of playing time.
The logos and striping is original, properly positioned, and adhered well to the helmet with no lifting. The helmet has game decals on the rear including the team warning label, NFL shield decal, and Saints rear bumper decal. There is a #86 team applied player identifier on the rear on both side stripes as well as a larger #86 identifier on the inside of the helmet near the right ear hole, and finally a #86 written by the equipment staff next to the left ear hole. Great game used helmet, in a huge size, of a team in which their game used helmets are rare and do not come around often.
