You've seen collector replica helmets signed by Bart Starr sell for $2,000 or more. You've also seen the same cheap type of collector helmets signed by Ray Nitschke bring the same amount of money. Very rarely have you ever seen the same item signed by both Hall of Famers, and when you do - it is a cheap replica helmet, a football, a pennant or some other cheap trinket. You have never seen a original Packers game worn helmet signed by both - let alone signed by seven (7) other Packers Legends.
Original, Green Bay Packers Game Worn Used football helmet. The helmet is a Schutt/AHI AiR Power model in a size medium. The helmet came directly from the Green Bay Packers. It is a game used, team issued helmet worn by #85. There were two (2) Packers that wore #85 during the period that the helmet was used. Phillip Epps, the long-time Packers receiver wore #85 from 1982 through the 1988 season where he played in just six (6) games for the Packers. Jeff Query then wore #85 the following season through 1991.
The helmet is complete, original, and unmodified as purchased by us. The AiR Power was a popular helmet with the team and in the NFL during this era. The helmet has the interior cell padding, the double air bladder, and Schutt ROPO facemask. The mask is dated 1991 and is secured to the helmet using original clips and hardware. The helmet has an unmatched pair of AHI and BIKE jawpads.
The helmet exhibit light wear to both the exterior and interior. The striping and logos of the helmet are original, in nice condition, properly positioned by the Green Bay Equipment Staff, and adhered to the helmet well with very slight lifting to the right logo as shown in the photos. The helmet has a #85 Packers player identifiers written on the interior as is normally the case with helmets prior to Head Equipment Manager "Red" Batty. there is shadowing of a #85 dymo tape identifier on the rear left side as shown in the photo below.
