Game used San Diego Chargers helmet from early to mid 1980s. The helmet is a Riddell Pac3 helmet with non-inflatable padding cell insert - Riddell's first helmet with this padding system. The Pac3 was later replaced by a similar helmet with virtually the same padding system called the WD1. The Chargers used many of this model of helmet but very few remain today and none nicer than this one. This helmet has a manufacturers date code of 1981 and a mask from 1983 so it was used for several seasons.  The Chargers changed their 'Bolt logos and went to a navy mask for the 1988 season.
The helmet is complete and all original has not been altered in any way. The helmet has the original Pac3 padding cells, original Riddell leather medium thickness jawpads, and the original Adams Pro 100 early "sewn strap chinstrap. The helmet has a Riddell USFL style OPO facemask - made famous by the Chargers Kellen Winslow. The mask is secured to the helmet using original Riddell clips and retains its original hardware. The helmet has an original manufacturing datecode of 1981 while the facemask does not have any datecode on it. The logos are original to the helmet and are adhered to the helmet well with no lifting. The helmet is all original and remains in excellent condition with only light wear to the exterior and interior. A bit of a rare model and certainly a very nice helmet for any Chargers fan or helmet collectors collection.
