Game used Chicago Bears Riddell AF2 model helmet from 1981-1990 seasons.  The 7 1/4 sized helmet has an original manufacturing date of 1981 with a reconditioning sticker for the 1990 season, so it was used for several seasons.  

The helmet is original and complete, unaltered or unmodified in any manner.  It comes with the AF2 interior padding, original Riddell chinstrap, and Schutt 1988 OPO model facemask - secured to the helmet using the original clips and hardware.  The molded dark navy helmet was repainted dark navy at some point of its life with the Bears. 

The helmet shows light wear on the inside and outside of the helmet.  The logos are the older "more rounded" logos worn by the Bears in the 1980s.  The logos are original, properly positioned, and adhered to the helmet very well with no lifting.  There is a gold on clear warning decal, properly positioned on the rear  right side of the helmet. 

The helmet has a #4 player identifier on the inside with the dark navy paint overspray over the identifier.  Bears quarterback Steve Fuller wore #4 with the bears from 1984 through the 1986 season.  Fuller did wear an AF2 model helmet, however wore an OPO-SW single wire mask - different from the OPO mask that is on the helmet.  Quarterback Jim Harbaugh wore #4 for the Bears from 1988 through the 1991 season.  Harbaugh wore a regular OPO model mask, consistent with what is on the helmet.  The mask datecode is 1988 so it makes sense that the helmet may have been worn by Harbaugh in that sense.  Or, perhaps the #4 marked in the helmet was for Fuller, with the mask changed out after his last season and the helmet issued to another Bears player wearing a completely different number.  Whatever the case, the helmet is a fantastic example of a Bears gamer - a team that is very difficult to find on the helmet collector market, and when they do, they are quickly purchased and rarely resurface.
