Game Worn Colts helmet. The Wilson F2101 model helmet in a rare XL size has moderate wear from the multiple seasons that it was used. The helmet was manufactured in 1978, consistant with the team changing to white masks. The Wilson F2101 was a bit of a rare model used in the NFL, with its most popular user Ken Stabler of the Raiders, who was reportedly paid by Wilson to wear it. The helmet is all original and unaltered from its purchase, exhibiting moderate to heavy wear with a significant crack near the nose sweatband as shown in the photos. The facemask of the helmet is a Riddell BD9 two bar plastic mask, most likely the most popular and widely recognized mask in football history. The mask was painted white by the team and is secured to the helmet using the original hardware. The helmet is original and complete with the wilson interior padding, very rare Wilson padded jawpads, and the original Wilson wildcat front nose bumper with original screws securing it to the front of the helmet. The nose sweatband/bumper Wilson name smeared from use.
The helmet is all original and has not been altered or modified. The helmet logo decals and center stripe are proper and original to the helmet. They are positioned properly and adhered to the exterior of the helmet well, with no lifting. There are no player identifiers in or on the rear of the helmet. A nice helmet, getting tougher to find, in a rare very desirable model, with a rare original mask and hardware, ready to display and become the centerpiece for your collection.
