We have sold some Patriots clear shell helmets before. A Marietta, a MaxPro, a MacGregor 100MH, and a Rawlings - just like this one with a 2-bar. They were nice helmets, very rare, highly collectible, and sold quickly. None of them were as nice as this one!
This helmet is an original Rawlings HND9 New England Patriots clear shell helmet from roughly 1974 through 1978. The helmet is a "clear shell" with the paint, logos, and striping, all under the shell of the helmet. A very rare and highly desirable model of helmet.
All original and very rare, the helmet has the original padding, very rare Rawlings "handed" leather jawpads, and very rare Rawlings chinstrap. The front nose snubber, that is normally rotted, torn, or completely gone - is in like-new condition. The helmet is in excellent, near-mint original condition with no blemishes, scratches, cracks, or modifications.
The original clips were broken, with reproduction replacement clips now in place securing the original redipped Schutt OPO model facemask to the helmet. The original hardware is used to secure the facemask clips to the helmet.
This is not a game used helmet, so there are no player identifiers on or inside of the helmet.
Original Rawlings factory decals are inside of the helmet. A great rare vintage Rawlings HND9 model helmet that is very hard to find. The helmet was sourced to us in a trade from a NFL and College clear shell collector. If you know how rare Patriots helmets are - together with how rare Rawlings clear shell NFL helmets are, you know what this is. This one is museum quality and you'll never see another one like it.
