Game Used Notre Dame Wilson F2000 model helmet.  The helmet is all original and unaltered in any way since we purchased it many years ago.  The helmet has an original date code on the rear of 1975, barely legible through the multiple layers of Notre Dame gold paint.   1975 was the first year of Irish defensive star Ross Browner as well - who wore the same model of helmet and same model of facemask during his years at Notre Dame.  The helmet shows heavy wear on the exterior with many layers of paint, indicating years of game play and most likely gridiron action during their 1977 Championship Season.  The helmet had not been repainted during the last few seasons which indicates that the helmet was obviously relegated to being worn as a practice helmet after its game service - given the heavy wear and no new paint.   

The helmet has been painted with the ND Gold paint, with the same process of all true authentic Irish helmets from this period.  The paint that Notre Dame used during this period was not the shiny, glittery paint as used today and throughout the last 15 years.  The more “dull” gold of the helmet perfectly matches what the team used when compared to photos or other actual Irish game helmets from that period.  There is paint shadowing where a Dungard model facemask was mounted to the upper front of the helmet, in which the mask mount was painted over - leaving the image of the mask outline in the paint which was under the mask mount.  AWESOME!  

The helmet has all of the Wilson interior padding but is missing one jaw pad.   No player numbers are present inside of he helmet, with the name "Vic K." written on the interior padding.   It is uncertain whether the name written was a player or was written in the helmet after it was released from the team.   A very rare helmet of a highly desireable model, that obviously years of action on the gridiron, obviously worn in both games and practice and during the Champion year of 1977.
