Jon Morris played 15 seasons in the NFL and was a 7X Pro Bowl center with the Patriots. He was drafted by Vince Lombardi and the Packers but chose to play for the Patriots. In 1975, he continued his career with the Detroit Lions and was voted Offensive Player of the Year by his teammates - while wearing this helmet.
The MacGregor 100MH model helmet has heavy wear with a crack near the top mounts of the Dungard mask. When we purchased the helmet, there was a repair to the helmet using two pieces of leather. It has not been determined if the repair was done while the helmet was being used or after it had been taken out of service. We have since removed the leather strips as the crack was minor, and the 100MH models had a tendency to crack. There are not many that do not have some cracking issues which was the reason the helmet model was discontinued.
The helmet is complete with DG140 Dungard mask as preferred by the Lions during this era due to its light weight. The helmet has the original Riddell chinstrap - though stained a bit. The helmet has three #63 identifiers written on the inside of the helmet. Photos of Morris with the Lions are tough to find but we did manage the photo below.
A great used helmet of a border-line HOFer in a very rare, highly desirable model.
