1975 Chicago Bears Game Worn Used football helmet. The helmet is complete and original as sourced to us with no modifications or alterations of any kind. The helmet is attributed to fullback and Payton lead blocker - Roland Harper. Harper wore this helmet for his rookie season in 1975. The helmet had been reconditioned and issued to Harper for his rookie season. There is a Wilson reconditioning sticker on the interior for the 1975 season. It was the only season that Harper would wear this helmet with the Dungard mask. Harper played for the Bears through 1982 and finally gave way to new Bears fullback Matt Suhey.
The Wilson rare F2002 model helmet is all original and complete with the interior leather suspension padding, Dungard runningback style facemask, and original 2 point chinstrap. The F2002 model was made famous by Walter Payton - as the only model of helmet that he would wear throughout his career with the Bears.
The mask is secured to the helmet using reproduction Schutt clips and original hardware. The helmet has original F2002 U-shaped leather jawpads. The helmet is painted Chicago Bear dark navy over a royal shell as often the case during this era. The helmet has had the rear chinstrap snaps removed - consistent with photos of Harper only wearing the single strap chinstrap during his rookie season. The helmet is in very nice display condition with moderate to heavy game wear with paint and mask transfers and paint loss to the shell exterior. The logos of the helmet are in nice condition and adhered to the helmet well with no lifting. Nice very rare gamer with a very rare facemask, attributed to a star player, at a very low affordable price.
