1973 Game used, worn UCLA Bruins helmet. The Bruins first started using their famous "UCLA" logo decals in 1973, making this one of the very first "inaugural" UCLA helmets to have the logo on it. The helmet is original, complete, and unaltered or modified in any way.
The sized large 7 3/8 - 7 1/2 Wilson F2002 helmet has a datecode on the rear of the helmet of 1973. The side logos on the helmet are original, positioned properly, and adhered well to the helmet with absolutely no lifting. The logos are matched to the positioning on photos of UCLA helmets during the 1973 season and beyond. The facemask is a Schutt early 1970s NOP model with the nice rounded bottom bends of the mask. The mask is secured to the helmet with reproduction period clips as the original clips were broken and mask loose when we purchased the helmet. We have added a photo below of the helmet prior to the reproduction clips being installed. The helmet retains its original hardware.
The paint on the helmet is perfect. Very light wear is exhibited on the exterior as well as the interior of the helmet. The Wilson suspension and padding are original, complete, and in perfect condition - including the rare original Wilson leather jaw pads. There are no player identifiers inside of the helmet, but are some numbers written - presumably reconditioning or team inventory numbers.
The helmet is a classic UCLA game used example, from the first season the team used logo decals. It remains in near mint, museum quality condition - highly sought after by fans and helmet collectors alike. If you know helmets, you know how rare a game used helmet like this is - the condition, the period/era, and the significance. Don’t wait on this one!
