Game Used Gamecocks MacGregor 100MH Clear Shell Helmet attributed to TE Kim Gunter. Gunter played at South Carolina from 1973 through the 1976 season. The helmet is a very rare clear shell with the stripe, logos, and paint of the helmet under the clear shell. The helmet is complete with the exception of the chinstrap. Gunter's name appears written on the inside padding of the helmet. It appears that the helmet was once converted to a lamp - with an extra hole in the center stripe of the helmet. The helmet shows moderate to heavy game used, however the logos, paint, and center stripe remain in nice condition - hence the theory of using clear shell helmets. The helmet comes with a Schutt NOP model facmask. Although the origina hardware with brass slotted screws remain, reproduction clips are used to secure the mask to the helmet. An excellent, very rare model of a Gamecocks helmets - in which you don't see very often.
