Game Worn Arizona State Sundevils helmet from 1970-72.  We could not find a date on the helmet, so it could be much older.  We put the date at 70-72 based on the facemask on the helmet as well as the style of helmet worn by Arizona State during this period.  The team also wore this same style with the same helmet numbers during the mid to late 1960s, and with it being a TK5 model, a model used mainly in the early to mid 60’s, it is quite probable that the helmet is a bit older than we state it is.  

As mentioned, the helmet is a Riddell TK5 - with the six-point suspension.  The facemask is a 1969 thru early 70s Schutt NOP mask - with the nice rounded bottom.    Schutt squared these “corners” up a bit in the mid 70s.  The mask has some Sunflower overspray on the front as well as the sides from previous post-season paint sessions.  The mask is secured to the helmet using reproduction clips as the originals were brittle and broken, yet retains its original slotted brass screws and hardware.  The helmet has its original Riddell leather jawpads, with one in very nice condition and its spouse a bit nasty.  Some helmets as well as people have that same problem!  

The helmet exhibits moderate to heavy wear on both the interior and exterior with parts of the original center stripe gone from on-field wear.  The number decals have been replaced but match the font used by the team as well as the outline of the original numbers that were once on the helmet.  The helmet has the optional neck bumper which has some of the sunflower paint overspray on it.  One interesting feature of the helmet is a heat stamp of “DOMESTIC” on the lower right-rear of the helmet.  We have never seen another helmet with this stamp.  A great helmet to display for your collection, of a very rare model of helmet.
