Virginia Tech Hokies MacGregor 100MH model helmet. The very early 100MH helmet is a “clear shell” helmet that has been painted over at least twice by the team. The padding of the helmet is sewn in - as were the early 100MH helmets were, coupled with the longer front nose snubber - giving the early “Macs” a classic, highly desired helmet. The stripes of the helmet are painted with the top layer over previously painted orange and white stripes. The logos were removed by the team prior to releasing the helmet. The jawpads are missing from the helmet and are the three (3) pin MacGregor style. The facemask is missing and we did not replace it. It appears that a Schutt facemask was originally secured to the helmet given the top and side mounting holes. The helmet shows heavy wear on the exterior and moderate wear on the inside padding including some maroon paint overspray. There is a #76 player identifier painted on the rear of the helmet as shown in the photos above. A very rare helmet of a highly desireable model, that obviously saw a lot of action on the gridiron.
