Alabama Crimson Tide TK5 suspension helmet. The helmet has a datecode on the interior from 1962 placing the helmet right smack dab in the middle of the Joe Willie Namath era. The helmet is all original, complete, and unmodified in any way. The helmet has the original leather jawpads. The facemask is an Adams two bar mask, secured to the helmet with the original hardware. The helmet is attributed to #58 on the team. The famous Alabama player identifier is completely missing on the right side of the helmet with shadowing of the number. The left side of the helmet has the majority of the number still on the helmet although part of both numbers is missing including part of the 8 making it appear to be a 3. The outside of the helmet has moderate wear to it with the interior remaining in very nice condition. Although not the conventional font of the numbers worn on the Alabama helmets, the team did wear this rounded font for some of their helmets in at least 1961 and 1962. Great museum quality helmet, from a great period in team history, ready for display. The helmet has a story. Very cool.
