Game Worn Michigan Wolverines Riddell Speed model helmet from the 2015 season in a medium size. The helmet has an initial season 2013 sticker on the inside of the helmet. This style with the white top facemask clips and the navy blue sides, along with the white front and rear bumpers was only wornin the 2015 season, so the helmet was used by the team for three years.
The helmet, like all Michigan helmets, painted wings and stripes, with metallic maize paint, a subtle difference from the traditional maize used by the team. The helmet is original, unaltered in any manner, and complete including the chinstrap. Along with the above mentioned clips securing the mask, the helmet has a 3D block “M” front bumper, a white vinyl decal covering the Riddell name on the rear, and a team applied warning label. The helmet retains its original Riddell medium cup chinstrap with MICHIGAN screened on the upper straps as used by the team. Interesting to note that the team used Schutt chinstrap buckles (as shown below) on the Riddell chinstraps rather than using the all metal buckles supplied by Riddell.
The helmet exibits very light wear, most likely worn in 2015 by a non-starting rostered player. The exterior rear player identifier decal and any award decals were removed by the team prior to its release. There is a #46 player identifier marked twice in the helmet interior. Michael Wroblewski, a junior linebacker wore 46 in 2015. As a linebacker does not normally wear a single wire OPO style facemask, Wroblewski may have wore the helmet in prior seasons with the helmet issued to a different player in 2015.
A very nice display helmet, that exhbits very well of a rare one-season style - complete with rare chinstrap and player identifier on the inside of the helmet. If you know Michigan helmets, you know how rare this one actually is. Don’t wait on it!
