2008 New York Giants Game used helmet attributed to Derrick Ward.  The helmet is a Schutt AiR Advantage model in a size large.  The helmet is all original and complete except for the chinstrap.  Typically with New York Giants helmets, when they are released, they are done so without the chinstrap.  The equipment staff keeps the chinstrap for use with the players next helmet.  The rare exception would be if the helmet released was the last helmet used for the season - then often times the chinstrap is included with the helmet.    

The helmet was originally manufactured for the 2005 season, has a reconditioning sticker for the 2008 season, and was most likely used during prior seasons.  Typically the Giants equipment staff prepares several helmets for their players - with a variety of different colored front "NY" bumpers, and different side facemask hardware - stabilizers and shock blockers used during the season.  They then recondition the previous helmets and prepare them for future games of the same season.  Usually a starting player would wear 2-3 identical helmets during the season during this era.   This helmet was worn fromthe start of the season through the October 19th game at Pittsburgh.  This was the last game that the combination of nose bumper (blue with red outline), shock blocker clips, and carbon steel ROPO-DW was used.  The following week against the Cowboys, Ward began wearing a different helmet with padding exhibiting heavy wear.

The helmet shows moderate wear on the exterior shell and facemask along with light to moderate wear to the interior.  Several deep scratches are shown on the exterior, along with along with several that have been painted over from a prior season(s).  The helmet has a Schutt ROPO-DW facemask - preferred by Ward due to its open face for maximum visibility.  The facemask is a carbon steel model as worn by Ward during the initial games of the season before switching to the lightweight Titanium version of the same model mask.  The helmet is complete with all of the game decals, the facemask, and original clips and hardware - including the gray shock blocker clips on the sides of the helmet that were worn by the team during the first several games of the season.   The Giants #34 player identifier are present on both the front and rear of the helmet with an additional identifier on the interior of the helmet.   A great helmet of a Super Bowl Champion, thousand yard rusher, and an eight season NFL player with three different teams.
