Dallas Cowboys Throwback helmet from the 2008 season,worn by Pro Bowl Defensive End Greg Ellis.  The Cowboys wore these throwback helmets for at least one (1) game and occasionally two (2) games each season from 2004 through the. 2012 season. The NFL then instituted the “One Helmet per Season” rule for ten (10) seasons, lifting the rule in 2022 - thus allowing the Cowboys to wear this beautiful style once again.

There is a lot to like about this helmet.  It was sourced from Steiner, it has the Prova tag on the interior - as used by the Cowboys to prove game use, and is Photo-Matched to the week 11 game when Ellis wore it for the last time.  Ellis played for the Cowboys for eleven (11) seasons after being drafted in the1st Round (8th overall) out of UNC where he was an All-American defensive end and a pass rushing specialist.  The selection stunned Cowboys fans who wanted the team to select Randy Moss.   Ellis started immediately his rookie season for the Cowboys and finished his 11-year Cowboys career with 77 sacks - third all-time behind just DeMarcus Ware and Jim Jeffcoat.  

The helmet is original, complete including the chinstrap, and unaltered in any manner.  The size large Revoluion model shows moderate wear to the exterior of the helmet with scratches, scuffs, vinyl wear to the mask.  The mask is a Riddell EGJOP model, secured to the helmet with its originl clips and hardware.  The chinstrap is an Adams Pro100 high mount model with the Adams names removed from the straps per the NFL uniform guidelines.  The chinstrap is secured to the helmet with screws at the top mounts and white Adams buckles at the lower mounts.  The stripes and logo decals are original, properly positioned, and adhered to the helmet well, with no lifting. Game decals include the Riddell front bumper decal in navy blue, Cowboys on the rear bumper, team applied navy on clear warning label, American Flag, and NFL shield.  Additionally the helmet has the 2008 Gene Upshaw memorial decal as well as the “Ellis” dymo tape player identifier -which the team has used since its inaugural season in 1960.
