Roughly 20 years ago we sold a 2004 Stephen Cooper Game Used Helmet. It was the navy blue helmet that the Charger wore for most of their games. This one is nicer with definite photo matches.
Game Worn San Diego Charger “throwback” helmet worn by Stephen Cooper in the 2005 season. The Chargers wore these helmets for the 5th game of the season against the Steelers and again for the 10th game (week 11) of the season against the Bills. The Riddell Revolution model helmet is a size large and original and complete as purchased. The helmet is original, unaltered in any way, and complete except for chinstrap. The chinstrap was swapped between this helmet and Cooper’s regular blue helmet thathe used for the last six (6) games of the season.
The helmet has its original Riddell G-3BDU model facemask, secured to the helmet with the original clips and hardware. Conventional clips secure the top mounts while Revolution clips secure the mask at the sides as worn during this period.
The helmet exhibits moderate two (2) game wear on the exterior and the interior. There is a deep gouge across the left logo that is easily photo-matcned with the picture below. other marks on the helmet and mask are also easily matched up.
The logos are original, properly positioned, and adhered well to the helmet with no lifting. The helmet has game decals on the rear including the team warning label, NFL shield decal, and Saints rear bumper decal. There is a #54 team applied player identifier on each side of the helmet - symbolizing the style that the Chargers wore during the 1960s as a proud member of the original AFL. Great game used helmet of a terrific NFL Pro Bowl player in a highly desirable style which do not come around often.
