This helmet is part of a collection that we purchased a few years back from the family of a former Marietta employee. We sold the helmet to a long time west coast collector, in 2014, who is now down-sizing his collection and has consigned the helmet for us to sell.
The Marietta employee would occasionally bring helmets home that were going to be discarded, for his two sons. His sons soon had a very nice collection of NFL helmets with just about every team offered in the early to mid 1970's. This helmet is a game worn original Marietta Kineomatic Los Angeles Rams helmet from 1972. The helmet is original and has all of its very rare Marietta leather interior padding. It comes complete with the original jawpads and original 1970s Schutt NOP facemask. The helmet is in excellent original condition with no modifications. The original clips were broken with the facemask loose but were replaced with period correct reproduction replacement clips. The original hardware remains with the helmet. There are no player identifiers on or inside of the helmet. Original Marietta factory decals are inside of the helmet with the 1972 datecode. The helmet has vinyl Rams decals on the outside of the clear shell helmet. The decals were made and applied at the Marietta factory - as they did with all of the NFL helmets that they supplied to the teams. The helmet shows moderate exterior wear - mainly to the facemask with some bending and bare metal in the corners. The logo decals are the correct size and color, are properly positioned, and are adhered to the helmet with slight rippling as shown in the photos. A great rare vintage Marietta helmet that is very hard to find. High School Marietta Kineomatic helmets are bringing more than $1,000 as collectors seek the impossible to find original leather padding. The helmet was sourced to us as you see it in the photos from a former employee of Marietta. You will notice this very Rams helmet - third from the right on the bottom shelf of their bedroom. It doesn't get any better!
